Mr. Andy Slaney

Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

Andy grew up in South Devon in England after leaving school joining South Devon College where he completed a BTEC in Professional Building Studies thereafter Sheffield Hallam University where he obtained a BSc (Hons) in Urban Land Economics in 1993 becoming a Chartered Surveyor in 1994.

Andy has worked in a variety of industrial sectors both public and private many with an environmental bias; including hazardous waste treatment and nuclear decommissioning these experiences leading to his election as a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2013.

In 2014 Andy was asked to join South Gloucestershire & Stroud College as Chief Operations Officer where he now manages a team of over 100 staff across campuses in Central and North Bristol, Stroud, Berkeley and the Forest of Deane. Andy and his team are responsible for the management of Group Estate portfolio valued in excess of £100M, Procurement, Sub-Contract Management, IT and all Estate Capital Projects. Many of the project Andy have delivered for SGS can be said to be exemplars of low carbon methodology.

Despite challenging times SGS have continued to grow both in terms of turnover, physical footprint and learner numbers opening a new campus at Berkeley in Gloucestershire in 2017 which, amongst many other things, is now the home of Bloodhound LSR.
Outside of SGS Andy Chairs the Business Energy Group for Gloucestershire and in his spare time is Scout Leader.
